MANday: How Ancient Egyptian History Impacts The Y Factor’s Care for You

Did you know your hormonal balance as a man and optimizing your health has roots in ancient Egypt?

Akhenaten was an Egyptian pharaoh with bizarre physical features that are now understood as a disorder of the P450 enzyme system.  The cytochrome P450 are a superfamily of enzymes that control steroid metabolism, fatty acid metabolism and the formation and breakdown of hormones.

A specific P450 enzyme deformity, CYP19A1, has been detected in the Egyptian lineage which leads to abnormal control of aromatase and abnormal testosterone metabolism.  This resulted in an excess production of estrogen.

Male development and performance desires a high testosterone and lower estrogen level.  This ratio is not only controlled by testosterone production but is also controlled by testosterone breakdown. Testosterone breakdown is controlled by aromatization of testosterone to estrogen.

Aromatase enzyme is a P450 enzyme now identified as CYP19A1.  If aromatase excess exist in boys then they develop gynecomastia (breast development)and early epiphyseal closure leading to shorter stature.

In addition to the CYP19A1, many other P450 enzymes like CYP11A1, CYP11B1, CYP11B2 and others are involved with synthesis (production) of steroid hormones like testosterone.

What does this mean for modern medicine and your care?

Review of ancient history significantly allows us to appreciate the role of aromatase in male hormone balance. Treatment of the P450 enzyme aromatase now is standard treatment for male hormone balance.

Many of the men at The Y Factor present with aromatase excess activity and hormone imbalance. We effectively can raise the testosterone and lower the estrogen by treating this P450 disorder, providing men with better hormone balance.

Better hormone balance in turn leads to better weight control, better fertility, better male performance, and reduction in risk of comorbid diseases like diabetes, hypertension and decreased cholesterol. That is significant male wellness!

The Y factor and our wellness program understand how basic science like the P450 system controls hormone balance which then impacts optimal male health and wellness.

The Y Factor merges science with medicine to provide state of the art premium medical care!
