MANday: What The Condyloma?

Men, our genital area is a very sensitive and vulnerable area which is also a breeding ground for viruses and fungi. The most common of them is HPV. Human Papillomavirus is the most common STD in the world. Nearly all sexually active males and females will contract this STD (CDC, 2021). One of the biggest giveaways for HPV is painless genital warts or what is called a Condyloma. These warts can be one or many in the genital region and sometimes resemble a “cauliflower”. Lesions or “skin growths” in our genital areas that don’t cause pain may not alert our guys that something may need to be done. However, condylomas do need to be treated as soon as able. Although HPV poses little to no risk to males, HPV is highly associated with cervical cancer in females (Burd, 2003). It is our responsibility to make sure we are not exposing our partners to HPV and put them at risk for cervical cancer.

Here at The Y Factor, we have the capability of diagnosing and treating genital warts caused by HPV. One of our many providers will simply remove the genital wart(s) with very little pain in one of our six clinics across the greater Houston area. We’ll even send the tissue to a pathology lab to confirm the diagnosis of HPV. If you believe you may have a condyloma in your genital region, please schedule an appointment with us today!
