How The Y Factor Can Help

Here at The Y Factor, we are the OB-GYNs for men! We have created a comfortable, open-discussion clinical environment that encourages you to talk to us regarding your most private concerns regarding your genital health. Furthermore, as urology specialists, we are trained on the problems that affect men in their pelvic area.

When concerns arise below the belt, most men don’t feel comfortable talking to their primary care doctor, who are often seen as general health practitioners above the waist.

The Y Factor Can Help with Peyronie’s Disease

The Y Factor specializes in correcting that bend in your penis with non-surgical solutions like shockwave therapy, plaque breaking injections, and stretching techniques. Schedule your genital concerns consultation with our team to learn more.

Genitilogy 101: Medical Manscaping – Your health below the belt!

Men, do you have genital scarring, skin bridges, inflammation, unsightly lesions or blemishes like skin tags or rashes that don’t heal? We can help you with medical manscaping at The Y Factor by making your genital area more aesthetically pleasing.

Lesions can be common in men and you should check yourselves for any abnormal lesions. Some of these lesions are removed with medication and some are removed with an in-office procedure. Some lesions can be passed to a partner and some lesions are precancerous. Common lesions are:

  • Skin Bridge
  • Tight Frenulum
  • Scarred Foreskin
  • HPV condyloma
  • Sebaceous cysts
  • Balanitis
  • Cherry Angiomas
  • Molluscum

Men, Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the leading cause of cervical cancer in women, but it’s something that we need to be on the lookout for as well. At The Y Factor, we’re focused on helping men learn about how HPV can put their partner at risk for cervical cancer. It’s never easy talking about lesions on your penis through a website, but if you have any kind of growth that looks like anything in the pictures above, you could have condyloma (genital warts). As men we mistakenly assume that the lesions on their penis are the following: normal, cut myself from shaving, keloid, mole, skin tag.

You might’ve gotten a skin cancer screening at your dermatologist, but chances are your doctor didn’t go below the belt. At The Y Factor we specialize in men’s urological wellness so we’ve seen everything below the belt. HPV virus infection then imbeds into the deeper skin layer where it can remain dormant for years. The HPV virus can control cell replication and cell death leading to unregulated cell growth. This unregulated cell growth presents as skin lesions often mistaken as moles or skin tags. This unregulated cell growth can lead to oral, cervical and anal cancer. This is the leading cause of these cancers in women! The Y Factor can:

  • Remove skin tags
  • Release penis skin bridges
  • Remove genital dark lesions/ angiomas
  • Circumcision for scarred foreskin (RHW)(ShangRing)
  • Incise scarred frenulum
  • Treat groin rashes
  • Treat scarred deviated penis (PSWL and injections)

If you think you have an HPV genital growth, schedule your consultation at one of our clinics across Houston, Tomball, Richmond, Webster, Missouri City and The Woodlands.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can guys get pelvic pain?

Yes, we usually refer to it as prostate pain, bladder pain, groin pain, or testicular pain.

  • What causes prostate pain?

Inflammation and infection of the prostate could cause pain.

  • Can pelvic pain be eliminated?

We are very successful in eliminating bladder pain, prostate pain, and groin pain. Testicular pain can be more difficult to clear.

  • What is the source of my pelvic pain?

The providers at The Y Factor diagnose the source of the pelvic pain through careful understanding of your symptoms, a physical examination to elicit the pain, laboratory testing to identify abnormalities, and diagnostic studies (scope) to look for a potential cause.

  • What causes groin pain?

A hernia, a varicocele, a granuloma or a nerve entrapment can cause groin pain.

  • What causes testicular pain?

Infection of the testicular ducts, twisting of the testicle, testicular cancer, or a duct cyst of the testicular tubes can all cause testicular pain.

  • What forms of treatment are used to eliminate pelvic pain?

Initially most of our treatments are with oral medication to clear infection and reduce inflammation. Oral medications are also used to shrink the prostate and to relieve urination obstruction. Surgical treatment also has a role when medical care is not successful. Our goal is to determine the underlying cause of the pain and not merely to treat the symptoms.

  • What causes bladder pain?

Inflammation of the bladder wall and obstruction to urinary flow are the main causes.

  • Could my pain be cancer?

Bladder cancer, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer rarely present first with pain. Bladder cancer presents as burning with urination. Prostate cancer almost never presents with pain. Testicular cancer can present with a dull ache continuously in the testicle.

  • What condition is called a banjo string on a penis?

Many guys have come to The Y Factor complaining about tightness in their penis. A tight frenulum is sometimes referred to as a tight banjo string of the penis. This tight skin band on the under surface on the penis can tear and bleed with erections. We can help at The Y Factor with a minimally painful frenulum release to treat this problem.

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes, we accept all major insurance plans:

At The Y Factor, we realize that medical care can be expensive. In an attempt to help you – our patients,
we can also work with the “Out of Network” benefits of most health insurance plans, and we accept Care Credit.
